Guest Speakers & Special Appearances
We are so happy to announce our Emcees for the evening are CTV Calgary’s Camilla Di Giuseppe and Darren Hailes.
Camilla Di Giuseppe
Camilla Di Giuseppe’s career in broadcasting spans well over a decade. The Toronto native began her on air work right out of college before landing at CTV Winnipeg as an anchor and reporter. She joined CTV Calgary in 2006 where she wears many hats but her main gig is producing and hosting the 11:30pm newscast. Camilla volunteers throughout Calgary particularly lending her talents to emcee galas and fundraisers… But she’s always ready to lace up for a charity 10k run, roll up her sleeves serving meals to Calgary’s less fortunate or rappel down 33 storeys raising awareness for a great cause!
WHY did Camilla want to get involved?
It was instinctual. When you are approached to lend your skills as part of a collective that wants to support people
who are looking to build/rebuild themselves and want to be a positive impact in our society, how does one say no? Dress for Success Calgary combines both some of those practical needs and the character building to help women take that brave step forward. We each have our own story of how we made it to where we are, and often there’s a chapter or two about how someone else lent us a hand when we perhaps needed it most. This collaboration is made up of some very talented, successful and caring people in our city, I am privileged to have been asked to be a part of it.
Born and raised in Australia, Darren’s first taste of the entertainment industry as an adult was as a Deal or No Deal contestant when he won a meager $2,000. Having enjoyed entertaining a crowd, he began to pick up speaking and hosting roles on stage and on camera.
Darren has experience as an on-stage host for live events including banquets, awards nights and music festivals, loving both the excitement of live events and the pressure of reacting to unknown or unplanned elements. Darren enjoys either working with the energy of an audience or can easily warm up a weary crowd to welcome a performer to the stage.
On camera, Darren’s vibrant and excitable nature is warmly received by viewers. His energy lends itself nicely to entertainment projects but he also possesses an ability to inject humour and enthusiasm to educational or professional works.
Much of Darren’s training has come through building a long list of performing and communications roles. He is a spokesperson and writer for a major Canadian brand, has been a mascot for the Vancouver PNE, a dancer for the Olympic Winter Games ceremonies and has performed in bands, choirs and musicals.
